AHCs Explained

Animal Health Certificates

Animal Health Certificates (AHCs) were first introduced in early 2021 not long after brexit.

It is simply a document that is required for a pet dog, cat or ferret to travel from the UK to the EU. The AHC needs to be issued by an Official Veterinarian (OV) no more than 10 days before your travel date. ​Up to 5 pets can go on the same AHC, and the pets must not be travelling for commercial reasons.

There are a set of criterias that must be met before an AHC can be issued.

  • Your pet must have been microchipped before or at the same time as their rabies vaccination
  • Your pet must also have been vaccinated for rabies at least 21 days before the AHC is issued
  • You must have copies of your pet's rabies vaccination record

Who We Are

We are a trio of veterinary professionals. Our paths crossed while working at a veterinary hospital. In addition to our full-time veterinary work, we have pursued additional training to become Official Veterinarians (OVs). This qualification enables us to issue Animal Health Certificates (AHCs).

In response to the rise in pet travel to Europe following the pandemic, we established our own business in 2022. We operate from our respective homes and offer affordable and convenient AHCs to pet owners and their jet-setting pets.

Application Process

1. Start Application

Answer a few basic questions about your pet(s) and we will let you know if we can help. If your pet(s) are eligible, you will be required to submit some details about yourself and your pet(s).

2. Submit Documents

Once we receive an application, our team will contact you via e-mail and request a copy of your pet's vaccination certificates and any additional information that is required.

3. Payment

Once we receive all the information required and confirm your pet's eligibility, we will request for payment.

4. Pet Verification

We will need to arrange to see your pet(s) to verify their microchips. We also need to see original vaccination certificates. You will need to visit us with your pet(s). We can also visit you, however there will be a surcharge.

5. Certificate Issued

Once we have verified your pet's microchip and sighted supporting documents, we will immediately issue your pet's Animal Health Certificates.
